CNC Control Retrofit:
STS understands the benefits of performing control retrofits on older CNC machines. In many cases the mechanics of the machine are sound but the control has become obsolete and is difficult or impossible to maintain. By retrofitting a new control onto the machine, productivity and reliability is improved and maintenance personnel are able to maintain the new modern control.
Keeping the machine saves our customers as much as sixty or seventy percent of the cost of purchasing a new machine. Additionally, these older machines typically are heavier built with cast iron beds as opposed to most of todays machines which consist of lighter weldment type frames.
Another advantage of choosing a control retrofit is that if your drives and motors are still working we can keep them in place and use them with the new CNC. Later if the drives fail they can be upgraded as well. We also offer as an option to replace drives and motors to provide a totally modern digital drive, motor, and CNC solution.
Finally, in most cases we can retrofit your machine with less than two weeks of downtime on your machine. We prepare the retrofit package offsite and ship the equipment to you. When your schedule allows it, our engineers arrive to install the package and run test parts. We train your operators and maintenance personnel during the installation and start-up.
